Occupation: Entertainer/Author/ Cowboy poet (Lifetime member of the ACPA)/ Cowboy historian/Actor/M.C./producer –Buckaroo Jake & Calico Carol Kid’s Show

COWBOY CULTURE INVOLVEMENT:

• a cowboy at heart/ living a cowboy lifestyle for most of his years.
• cowboy poet/ became ‘lifetime’member of Alberta Cowboy Poetry Association
• produced the first cowboy gathering (poetry events) in B.C. (O’Keefe Ranch-Vernon, Williams Lake, B.C. - 2different events-co-hosted 100 Mile House Gathering)
• feature poet at all B.C. events(incl. Vancouver East Cult. Centre). Shared stage with Chief Dan George’s son.
• U.S. Events: Montana, Idaho, Oregon.  Shared stage with Kitty Wells and well known cowboy poets, Mike Logan, Paul Zarzyski, Wallace McCrea, Sonny Hancock and Gwen Petersen . Recited poetry to Brooke Shields. Picked to appear as a feature ‘diamond’ in Big Timber, Montana.
• One of first cowboy poets in Canada to publish a book of original cowboy poetry titled SILK’N’SILVER. Most poems based on ‘cowboying’ on some of Canada’s largest ranches (i.e.Douglas Lake Cattle Company and Waldron Ranch/AB.) . To date close to 5000 copies sold- even to such diverse locales as Bosnia/Ireland and Indonesia.
• featured at Canada’s Cowboy Festival/Calgary Convention Centre (3 years running)
• featured and M.C.d at Pincher Creek Gathering/Alberta (Canada’s original Gathering)
• feature performer at Stony Plain Gathering/ Alberta
• recited and M.C.d/Maple Creek Gathering/Sask.

• Co-produce with my wife Carol: THE BUCKAROO JAKE AND CALICO CAROL KID’S SHOW: this show is delighting kids throughout B.C. and Alberta. Includes poetry, story telling, rope tricks, cowboy songs (yodeling) and features Calico Carol (my wife) and her sidekicks Annabelle/One-Eye and Ug (puppets). The show promotes my children’s western adventure novel series LITTLE JAKE’S COWDOG/LITTLE JAKE & THE INTRUDER/LITTLE JAKE AND MANY SKIES STRIKE GOLD. The setting for the book is B.C.’s Ranch country/Nicola Valley. A picture book titled BUCKY’S RUNAWAY XMAS is now complete and awaiting publication. Inspiration for the novel series came from riding with buckaroos on Canada’s largest ranches.  I’ve had a lifelong appreciation for the Great Outdoors and an admiration for the First Nations people and their harmony with Mother Nature!
